Background: Recent studies demonstrated partial or complete hypopituitarism in 30–70% of survivors of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Hyperprolactinemia may indicate damage of the pituitary stalk or the hypothalamus.
